Facebook Live for Insurance Agents

Facebook live has been around for quite a while now. Are you using it? You should be. It’s a powerful tool that many insurance agents aren’t using to its full potential.

A lot of people jump right in with Facebook Live, which isn’t the greatest idea. You need to have a game plan. Ask yourself these questions first:

If you want an audience, you’re going to need to give your followers a heads up that you plan on going live. Let them know what to expect, what you’ll be discussing, and why they should tune in.

No viewer wants to hop into a livestream that’s dull, confusing, or has no purpose. Live events work great if you have a new product to introduce, during fun events , or if you’re just doing a solo chat with your audience to get to know them. Another fun Facebook Live concept is an Ask Me Anything. This creates a great opportunity for your followers to ask you questions about yourself or the agency. While you’re at it, be sure to keep it fun.

Make sure you plan the livestream for a time when your followers will be active. If you’re not sure, post a poll first to identify a time that works best for them.

Facebook is all about engagement, and videos are a great way to initiate interaction. During a live event, encourage the viewers to ask questions and comment on the video. Be aware that there is a few seconds of delay between when a comment is submitted and when the livestreamer sees it.

Even if you have one viewer on your livestream, it is important to keep them engaged, entertained, and informed. Another tip to remember is quality. Don’t livestream if you are in an area with bad cellphone service or spotty wifi. Host your live event in an area that is well lit and not too noisy. You want to make sure that the viewers will be able to hear and see you clearly.
